一、“nothingmorethan”是什么意思

nothingmorethan仅仅，只不过;morethan超过;不只是;很;在…次以上;

1.Lockingupmendoesnothingmorethankeepthemoffthestreets.把这些人关起来只是做到了不让他们上街而已。

2.Thenewlydiscover-ednotesarenothingmorethanLang'spersonaljournal.新发现的笔记只不过是朗的个人日志。

3.Historyisnothingmorethanatableauofcrimesandmisfortunes.历史不过是由罪恶和灾难构成的静止舞台造型罢了。

二、not more和no more区别

1.两者中文意思不一样：

nomorethan表示只是，至多，只不过的意思。

notmorethan表示至多、仅仅、不超过的意思。

2、两者用法不一样：

nomorethan表示“只不过”(=only)，强调少。

例如：Sheisnomorethananordinarygirl。她只不过是个普通的女孩。

notmorethan指两者虽然都具有某种特征，但程度不一样，意为“不如”、“不及”。

例如：Heisnomoreawriterthanapainter。他不是画家，也不是作家(=Heisneitherapainternorawriter)。

3、两者词性不一样：

nomorethan是副词。

notmorethan是名词。

三、no more与no longer的区别用法

nolonger意为不再，通常放在行为动词前，be动词的后面。nolonger可用not…anylonger代替。

nomore/not…anymore与nolonger/not…anylonger同义，但用法有所区别：当涉及数量和程度时，要用nomore

nomore和notanymore可以彼此互换，意思是“不再......”，nolonger和notanylonger也可以彼此替换，意思也是“不再......”，但nomore偏重于指程度，nolonger偏重于指时间。

1.表示程度，可以用nomore、not...anymore比如：

Iwantnomorecakes.

=Idon'twantanymorecakes.我不想再要蛋糕了。

IamsotiredthatIcanwalknomore.

我太累了，一点也走不动了。这一句还可以说成：IamsotiredthatIcan'twalkanymore.

另外，nomore还有“仅仅、只不过的意思”，比如：Moneyisnomorethanourservant.金钱不过是我们的仆人。这个时候，如果替换notanymore意义就变了：Moneyisn'tourservantanymore.---金钱已经不再是我们的仆人。

2.表示时间上不再延续，可以用nolonger、也可以用not...anymore、not...anylonger，例如：

Henolongerliveshere.他不再住这儿。

=Hedoesn'tlivehereanylonger.

=Hedoesn'tlivehereanymore.

Hesmokednomore.他不再抽烟。

=Hedidn'tsmokeanymore.

=Hedidn'tsmokeanylonger.

3.注意nolonger的位置：只能放在谓语动词之前，如果有助动词的话，放在助动词和实动词之间。

Inolonglivewithmyparents.我已不再和父母住在一起。

Iwillnolongerlivewithmyparents.我将不会在和父母住在一起。
